This is one of the cooler bars I’ve seen in a long time! Located in east side of Amsterdam, Bar Basquiat pays homage to the artist of the same name. Dutch design studio Modijefsky used both subtle and not so subtle references to Jean-Michel Basquiat creating a result that feels as if the iconic 80’s artist once inhabited the space. The design team was also sure to reference the building’s former use as a supermarket with a white milky paint where the dairy shelves once were and a red bar counter to acknowledge the butcher station. It’s industrial yet refined with classic American diner vibes and the end result is unlike any bar I’ve seen. Brilliantly executed and high on my list of places to see!
